Our Leadership
The People Behind the Stone
At Ace Alice, leadership means more than management—it means stewardship. Our executive team carries forward the values established by our founder while preparing the company for its next century of growth.

Alice Winters
Chief Executive Officer
Alice Winters represents the third generation of Winters family leadership at Ace Alice Inc. Named for her legendary grandfather, she grew up in the business—spending summers at the Sudbury quarry and learning operations from the ground up.
After earning her MBA from Queen's University, Alice worked in strategic consulting before returning to the family business in 2005. She became CEO in 2012, leading the company's most ambitious modernization program while preserving its family character.
Under her leadership, Ace Alice has expanded into new markets, invested in sustainable technologies, and maintained its reputation as an employer of choice. Alice serves on the boards of the Ontario Mining Association and the Thunder Bay Community Foundation.
Avert Morrison Winters
President
Avert Morrison Winters has been building relationships in the construction industry for over 25 years. Before joining Ace Alice, he led business development for major engineering firms, earning a reputation for integrity and follow-through.
As President, Avert oversees client relationships, business development, and strategic partnerships. His approach combines genuine care for customer success with deep industry expertise. Clients appreciate his hands-on involvement and his commitment to solving problems, not just selling products.
Avert married Alice in 2003 and took the Winters family name—a gesture honoring the company's legacy that meant a great deal to the family. Together they have three children, ensuring the possibility of a fourth generation at Ace Alice.

Brad Bass
Chief Financial Officer
Brad Bass has been the financial backbone of Ace Alice for 18 years. Starting as an accountant in the Thunder Bay office, he rose through the ranks, becoming CFO in 2015.
Brad's conservative financial management has enabled strategic investments while maintaining the company's rock-solid balance sheet. His philosophy mirrors the Winters family approach: steady growth, minimal debt, and always being prepared for economic cycles.
Before Ace Alice, Brad worked in public accounting serving mining and construction clients throughout Northern Ontario.
Chris Candy
Head of Operations
Chris Candy literally worked his way from the quarry floor to the executive suite. He started at Ace Alice as a equipment operator in 1998, became a site supervisor in 2005, regional operations manager in 2012, and Head of Operations in 2019.
His hands-on experience gives Chris unmatched credibility with field teams and a practical understanding of operational challenges. He's led initiatives in safety improvement, equipment modernization, and workforce development.
Chris is passionate about creating pathways for frontline workers to advance—just as he did. Under his leadership, Ace Alice has expanded its apprenticeship programs and internal promotion policies.
